Questions buyers ask before they hire a consultant
Are experts vetted?
Yes. Every expert passes an identity check. We also verify work history, references and certifications where they apply, plus a rate card and an availability calendar, before the profile appears in any shortlist.
How are rates set?
Rates are set by each expert. You see the hourly, daily or retainer rate on the profile before the first call, and ExpertMatcher never adds a hidden markup on top of it.
What does the platform fee cover?
The fee is a percentage of the engagement value, from 12% on Starter down to 4% on Enterprise, added on your invoice. It covers payment processing, invoicing, expert payouts, 1099 handling for US experts, contract records and dispute support.
Who owns the work?
Your company does. Every SOW includes an IP assignment clause, so deliverables paid through ExpertMatcher belong to you once the related payment is complete.
Can I hire the expert directly later?
Work that starts on ExpertMatcher continues on ExpertMatcher, so your NDA, SOW, invoices and ratings stay in one record. The Terms set out how and when direct contracting with an expert you met here is allowed.
What if the match is wrong?
Tell us why in one line and ExpertMatcher reweights the match brief and rebuilds the shortlist. Expert calls are short by design, so a wrong fit costs you one call, not a quarter.
Do you have experts in my industry?

How are payments and invoices handled?
You pay by card on any plan, or by ACH from Growth up. ExpertMatcher issues one invoice per engagement with the expert's fee and the platform fee, and Enterprise gets one consolidated invoice per month.

Yes. Experts see a redacted summary first and the full brief only after they sign your NDA. Your brief is never published or shared outside the experts you approve.
