Find an expert in five steps, from brief to rated engagement

ExpertMatcher takes one sentence about your problem and carries it all the way to a paid, documented and rated engagement. Here is what happens at each step and what you control along the way.

  1. 01

Describe the problem in plain words

Start with one sentence or a longer project description. Say what is wrong or what you want to achieve, by when, and roughly what you can spend. You do not need a job title or a formal scope, because the next step writes it for you.

    • 01 Engagement type, from a one hour expert call to an interim role
    • 02 Budget band, hourly or a monthly retainer
    • 03 Start date, this week, this month or next quarter
  2. 02

Your problem becomes a structured match brief

AI reads your description and turns it into a match brief that any expert or colleague can read in a minute. You can edit every field before matching starts.

The match brief also lists screening questions to ask any candidate, so the first call goes straight to substance.

    Your match brief
    • 01 Role title, for example a fractional CFO or an ERP implementation lead
    • 02 Industry and business model
    • 03 Must have competencies, each with a weight
    • 04 Seniority and years of experience band
    • 05 Engagement format and expected hours or days per week
    • 06 Budget band and timeline
    • 07 Timezone and language
  3. 03

AI matching with a fit score for every criterion

ExpertMatcher compares the match brief with every verified expert profile. Each expert gets a fit score per criterion (industry, each competency, seniority, rate band, availability, timezone) and a short reason for each score, so you see why someone is on the list, not just a single number. When the brief changes, the scores change with it.

  4. 04

A shortlist of verified profiles with rates and availability

Your shortlist holds 3 to 15 experts depending on your plan. Every profile shows what has been checked and what the expert charges.

Rates are set by each expert, and ExpertMatcher adds no markup to them.

    Your shortlist
    • 01 Identity check passed
    • 02 Work history and references verified
    • 03 Certifications where the role needs them
    • 04 Rate card with hourly, daily or retainer rates
    • 05 Availability calendar, timezone and languages
  5. 05

An intro call or a paid expert call

Request a short intro call to check the fit, or book a paid expert consultation of 30, 60 or 90 minutes at the expert's rate. Each call comes with a video link and shared notes saved to the brief, so your team sees what was said.

  6. 06

NDA and SOW before the work starts

Experts see a redacted summary of your brief until they sign your NDA. Once you decide to go ahead, the expert sends a proposal, and you agree a SOW from a template with scope, milestones or a retainer, rates and an IP assignment clause to your company.

  7. 07

Projects and fractional engagements run in the workspace

A project runs on milestones you approve. A fractional role runs on a retainer measured in days per week, with timesheets the expert submits and you approve. For leadership roles see fractional executives, where the same flow covers a CFO, CMO or COO working one to three days a week.

  8. 08

    Payment, invoice, payout and 1099

You pay by card on every plan or by ACH from Growth up. ExpertMatcher issues an invoice for each call or milestone with the expert's fee and your plan's platform fee. The expert receives a payout once the invoice is paid, and US experts get their 1099 through the platform, so your finance team never builds tax paperwork by hand.

  9. 09

A rating after every completed engagement

When the engagement ends, the company that paid for it rates the expert. Ratings appear only from verified completed engagements, which keeps them honest for the next company that reads them.

One workspace for the whole team

From Growth up, colleagues share shortlists, comment on profiles and approve calls before they are booked. Scale adds approvals for SOWs, budgets per department and preferred expert pools you reuse across briefs.

Enterprise controls for larger companies

Enterprise adds SSO with SAML, roles for every seat, an audit log of views, shares and approvals, consolidated monthly invoicing and a security review pack for procurement. Read how briefs and data are protected on ExpertMatcher security, and compare plans on ExpertMatcher pricing.
