Expert network for companies that run the business, not a fund

ExpertMatcher is an expert network for founders, CEOs, business owners and department heads who need an hour with someone who has solved their exact problem before. Describe the question in one sentence, see a shortlist of verified experts with rates and availability, and book a paid call the same week.

Ask your question in one sentence

Try a brief like "We are moving from QuickBooks to NetSuite next quarter and want an hour with someone who has run that migration for a company our size."

Up to 1,000 characters. Your brief stays private.

Your brief stays private. Experts see details only after an NDA.

What an expert network does for an operating company

An expert network connects you with people who have hands on experience in a narrow topic and are willing to share it in a short, paid conversation. For an operating company that usually means a decision you are about to make: a system to buy, a market to enter, a price to set, a regulation to comply with or a hire to plan. One hour with the right person replaces weeks of reading vendor material and guessing.

  1. 01 Validate a plan before you commit budget to it
  2. 02 Pressure test a vendor shortlist with someone who has used each option
  3. 03 Understand a regulation or a filing from someone who has done it
  4. 04 Learn how a peer company structured a team, a process or a pricing model
  5. 05 Decide whether you need a longer project or a fractional executive at all

Why investor expert networks do not fit operating companies

Classic expert networks were built for hedge funds, private equity and consulting firms doing research on an industry. Their model reflects that buyer: per call pricing at fund level budgets, often four figures for an hour, annual contracts, and compliance processes designed to stop analysts from receiving material non-public information. The experts are frequently former employees of the companies being researched, and the output is market insight, not help with your own operations.

An operating company needs something different. You want a practitioner who will look at your situation, not an industry, and you want to pay the expert's actual rate rather than a fund price. You also want the option to keep working with the same person when the call shows there is more to do.

How expert calls work on ExpertMatcher

  1. 01

Brief: you describe the question in a sentence or a paragraph

  2. 02

Match brief: ExpertMatcher turns it into a structured profile with role, industry, weighted competencies, seniority, budget band and timing

  3. 03

Shortlist: you see 3 to 15 verified experts depending on your plan, each with a fit score per criterion and the reason for the match

  4. 04

NDA: experts sign before seeing your full brief and company name

  5. 05

Call: you book 30, 60 or 90 minutes at the expert's rate, with a video link and shared notes

  6. 06

Payment and rating: you pay through the platform by card or ACH, receive an invoice and rate the expert after the call

The full flow is described on how it works, and preparation tips are in our guide to expert network calls.

Who is in the network

Every expert passes identity, work history, reference and certification checks before matching. The network covers independent consultants, fractional and interim executives and specialists across finance, operations, marketing, sales, technology, compliance and product. Each profile shows a rate card, availability calendar, languages and timezone, and ratings come only from completed engagements.

What an expert network call costs here

You pay two things. Your plan is a flat subscription starting at $24 per month on yearly billing (Starter) and the call itself is priced by the expert, plus the platform fee of your plan, from 12 percent on Starter down to 4 percent on Enterprise. As a general market range, experienced consultants charge from about $150 to $500 per hour and senior executives more, and rates are set by each expert. Compare all plans on ExpertMatcher pricing.

Hypothetical example

Hypothetical example: a 60 minute call with an expert whose rate is $300 per hour, booked on the Growth plan, costs $300 plus a 9 percent platform fee of $27, for $327 on one invoice.

When an expert call is the right tool

  • You face a decision that is expensive to reverse and nobody on the team has made it before
  • You need a second opinion on a plan, a model or a vendor proposal
  • You are not sure yet whether the problem needs a project, a part time leader or just an answer
  • A board member or investor asked a question that needs a specialist view

If the answer is a longer engagement, the same expert can send a proposal and a SOW inside the platform, and the work continues without a new search. For broader needs, start with our consultants for small business page.

What is an expert network

An expert network is a service that connects you with experienced practitioners for short, paid conversations about a specific topic. ExpertMatcher is an expert network for operating companies, with calls priced at each expert's own rate.

How is ExpertMatcher different from investor expert networks

Investor networks serve funds researching industries and charge fund level per call prices. ExpertMatcher serves companies working on their own problems, shows the expert's rate before booking and lets a call turn into a project or fractional engagement.

How fast can I book a call

The shortlist appears as soon as your match brief is ready. How fast the call happens depends on the expert's availability calendar, which you see on the shortlist before you request a time.

Are the experts verified

Yes. Each expert passes an identity check, work history and reference checks, and certification checks where they apply, before entering matching.

Is my question confidential

Yes. Experts see only the role and format until they sign the NDA in the platform, and only then see your full brief and company name. More on ExpertMatcher security.

Can I ask about a competitor

You can ask about markets, practices and tools. Experts must not share confidential information of former employers or clients, and our terms forbid requests for material non-public information.

What if the call was not useful

You rate the expert after the call, and you can open a dispute before payout if the call did not happen as booked. For the next question, the shortlist can be refined from the same brief.
