Become an expert consultant companies find by their exact problem
ExpertMatcher sends independent consultants, fractional and interim executives and specialists the company briefs that fit their experience, rate and calendar. You keep your rate, the company signs an NDA before you see the details, and calls and projects are paid through the platform with payouts and 1099 paperwork handled for you.
Qualified inbound work without an agency cut
Companies describe a problem in one sentence. ExpertMatcher turns it into a structured match brief and shortlists experts whose verified profile fits the role, industry, competencies, rate band and availability. When you fit, the brief comes to you.
- Your rate, set by you, shown to the company before the first call
- Matched briefs only, no bidding wars and no proposal spam
- Paid calls of 30, 60 or 90 minutes and longer projects in one place
Who we accept as an expert
ExpertMatcher is built for people who have done the work they advise on. We accept profiles from experienced practitioners who sell their time directly to companies.
Agencies reselling other people's hours, recruiters and profiles without a verifiable work history are not accepted. If you lead a small firm, each person who takes engagements keeps their own verified profile.
- Independent consultants in finance, operations, marketing, sales, technology, compliance and product
- Fractional executives (CFO, CMO, COO, CEO, CIO, controller) working one to three days a week per company
- Interim executives who step into a leadership seat for a defined period
- Specialists with deep, provable skill in one area, such as ERP rollouts, pricing, SEO, Shopify builds or regulatory filings
How we verify every expert profile
Companies choose you because they can trust what your profile says. Verification is the reason your profile is worth paying for, and it runs before your profile enters matching.
Your profile shows a verified badge per item, so a company sees exactly what was checked. You update your rate card and calendar whenever you like.
- Identity check with a government issued ID and a live selfie match
- Work history with roles, dates and scope, checked against public records and references
- References from people who hired or managed you, contacted by us with a short structured questionnaire
- Certifications and licenses (CPA, CFA, PMP, CISSP and similar) checked with the issuing body where it offers a lookup
- Rate card with your hourly rate, call prices and day rate for fractional work
- Availability calendar with the days per week you can take on, your timezone and languages
How matching works for experts
Every company brief becomes a match brief with weighted competencies, seniority, engagement format, budget band, timeline and timezone. ExpertMatcher scores each verified profile against those criteria and explains the reason for each match.
- You receive matched briefs that fit your profile, with the role, format, budget band and timeline visible
- The company signs an NDA inside the platform before the full brief details are shared with you
- You accept or decline each brief, and declining never lowers your standing
- Accepted briefs put you on the company shortlist with your rate card and availability
Nothing about your profile is shown to a company that has not signed in and accepted the platform terms. Your contact details stay private until an engagement starts.
Calls, projects and fractional engagements
Most relationships start with a short paid call. Read more about how a paid expert consultation works from the company side.
- Expert calls of 30, 60 or 90 minutes, priced from your rate card, with a video link and shared notes
- Projects with your proposal, a SOW, milestones and acceptance criteria
- Fractional and retainer engagements set in days per week, with timesheets
- NDA, SOW templates and IP assignment terms prepared in the platform, edited by you and the company
Payouts and 1099 handling
The company pays through the platform by card or ACH. You are paid for every completed call and every approved milestone or timesheet, without chasing invoices.
- Payouts to your bank account after the call is completed or the milestone is approved
- Clear statements per engagement with the amount, the fee and the payout date
- 1099 handling for US experts, with your tax details collected once through a W-9 form
- Experts outside the US receive payouts in USD with a W-8BEN form on file
Ratings come only from completed engagements
A company can rate you only after a call took place or a project milestone was approved. No one can leave a rating from a conversation that never happened, and you can reply publicly to every rating.
Your rate is set by you
ExpertMatcher never sets or discounts your rate. Rates are set by each expert, the company sees your rate before booking, and the platform fee is added on the company invoice, separate from the fee on your earnings: 8% of each payout on Expert and 5% on Expert Pro, deducted from the payout and never added to the company invoice.

Both plans are subscriptions. Yearly billing saves 50 percent and is the default.

What Expert Pro adds
Expert Pro is for consultants who take engagements every month. When you are a strong fit for a brief, your profile is placed higher on the shortlist. Your rate card is featured on the shortlist card, you can show a portfolio of work samples and case notes cleared by your former clients, and the fee on your earnings is 5% instead of 8%. How do I become an expert consultant on ExpertMatcher
Create your expert profile, pick the Expert or Expert Pro plan, complete identity, work history, reference and certification checks, and add your rate card and availability calendar. Once verification is complete, your profile enters matching and briefs that fit start arriving.
Do I have to bid for work
No. ExpertMatcher matches briefs to profiles based on competencies, industry, rate band and availability. You see briefs that fit and decide to accept or decline.
Who sets my rate
You do. Rates are set by each expert and shown to the company before booking. You can change your rate card at any time, and changes apply to new bookings.
How and when am I paid
Companies pay through the platform by card or ACH. You receive a payout after a completed call or an approved milestone or timesheet, with a statement per engagement.
Can companies rate me without working with me
No. Ratings come only from completed calls and approved project milestones, and you can reply to every rating.
Can I work with a company directly after an engagement
Engagements that start on ExpertMatcher run through ExpertMatcher for a reasonable period described in the terms. After that period, or with the agreed conversion terms, you are free to work with the company as you choose.
Is my profile visible to everyone
No. Your profile is shown only to signed in companies with an active plan, and your contact details stay private until an engagement starts. Read more on ExpertMatcher security.
